The JSRC will once again be volunteering at the TCS New York City Marathon. At least 40 people are needed to work the Finish Area in Central Park. The club will provide transportation to and from NYC for all registered volunteers. This is great opportunity and is always a good time. If you want to volunteer, you MUST follow the instructions below to register by August 30, 2017. If you're unsure of the commitment, please consider registering anyway...we cannot add volunteers after the deadline.

Enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow members over dinner & drinks on the River Queen river boat. The boat leaves Bogan’s Basin in Brielle Saturday, July 15 at 6pm and we cruise along the Manasquan River, Point Pleasant Canal and Barnegat Bay until 9.
That’s right - we’re taking a 3-hour tour. So who knows how it will end!

Rise n' Shine | Thursday mornings 6:00 a.m.
The JSRC is pleased to announce our newest group run. Going by the name "Rise 'n Shine", it's geared toward runners who like to get up and get their run done before starting their work day. They meet every Thursday around 6:00 a.m. on the boardwalk in Belmar.
Club member Deborah Alpert has agreed to act as Run Leader/Club Contact.
Meet at: 16th Avenue & Ocean Avenue, Belmar Members and non-members are invited to join in on the run.
Mike Procopio wants everyone to know the film "Running the 184" will be showcased on Friday, August 4th at the Asbury Park Film Festival.
There are cameos from some club members and local runners who were interviewed for the film.

Just wanted to let fellow runners know of the passing of dear running friend and professor at Monmouth University.
Many of you know him or have run with him, Prescott Evarts Jr.

Shore AC/JSRC/Shore-area running veteran Prescott Evarts Jr passed away on August 28. He was 79.
Dr Evarts was an English professor at Monmouth University, a familiar face at many Shore road and cross country races (as a longtime member of the "Green's Pond Harriers) and also father and father-in-law to Shore AC/JSRC/Shore-area running veterans Geoff and Jill Evarts
A visitation will take place on Friday, September 1, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Christ Episcopal Church, 90 Kings Highway, Middletown, NJ Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with a burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Middletown.
Colonel Harold G. Beal Jr passed away on September 10. He was 88.
Harry (as he was known to his friends) was a long time Shore AC member and supporter, was active and supportive throughout the entire running community and was also a top competitive athlete into his 80's.
A West Point graduate, Harry served out an extensive and distinguished military career and was also a well-respected and successful coach and educator. Link below to his obituary, covering his very diverse and accomplished life.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 14 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at O'Brien Funeral Home located at 2028 Route 35 North in Wall Township, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 15 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Catharine's Church, Spring Lake. Burial will take place at 1:30 p.m. at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ with Military Honor Guard.

The Jersey Shore Running Club hosted our 24th (YES TWENTY-FOURTH) Annual Women's 5K on Saturday Sept 2, at Holmdel park.
Congratulations and thanks to all who attended the event --- runners, walkers, volunteers, sponsors and friends! Madison Brand of Middletown, age 17, was first across the line in 20:10, and "Wine, Women and Running" took the Team Participation Award - AGAIN - Congratulations!
