2023-2025 Board Nominations

Nominations are now open for the 2023-2025 JSRC Board.

Raised HandsNominations for the JSRC Board open Wednesday, October 26, 2022 and will close Friday, December 16, 2022. The election will take place online from December 19, 2022 through February 10, 2023. The new board will be announced February 25, 2023. All members-in-good standing (your membership account must be up-to-date in RunSignup) are eligible to serve on the board and vote in the election.

Current nominees are listed below. Additional nominations can be made through 12/16. To make a nomination please email membership@jsrc.org. Nominees will only be listed if they accept the nomination. 

All Board positions are 2-year positions. Upon leaving office all officers, with the exception of Members-at-Large, serve an additional 2 years on the Board. All Board Members are expected to adhere to the Club Code-of Conduct and represent the JSRC in a positive manner at all times.

OFFICE OF PRESIDENT

CANDIDATES: Robert Galizio, OTHER NOMINEES TBD


The general responsibility of the President is to oversee all JSRC events & projects & to contribute to the direction of the JSRC organization.

FUNCTIONS

  • Participates as a member of the Board of Directors attending monthly Board of Director (BOD) meetings & special meetings as scheduled
  • Participates as chair & member of the JSRC Executive Committee, leading monthly meetings.
  • Plans agendas for all BOD, Executive Committee, and general membership meetings, in conjunction with the Vice President.
  • Is an ex officio member of all committees except the Nominating Committee. Works closely with all standing committees regarding committee needs, issues & progress.
  • Works closely with the Club Officers & Committee Members on all Club details, including, but not limited to, the following: Taxes, Legal issues, Financial commitments & contracts
  • General Problem-solving & Oversees all meeting planning for annual membership meeting.
  • Develops & implements planning for the achievement of the JSRC mission & the on-going goals of the organization. Continues to develop & support the organization’s long-range vision.
  • Arranges & chairs all planning & ancillary meetings of the BOD.
  • Arrives at all meetings early for pre planning.
  • Conducts JSRC BOD, Executive Committee, and general membership meetings.
  • Attends other functions, as possible, to promote/represent JSRC.

OFFICE OF VICE-PRESIDENT

The general responsibility is to assist the President in overseeing the direction of the JSRC.

FUNCTIONS

  • In the absence of the President or in the event of the President’s disability or refusal to act (as agreed upon by at least a majority of the board), the Vice President performs the duties of the President, & when so acting, has all the powers of & is subject to all restrictions of the President. The Vice President also discharges such other duties as may from time to time be required of the Vice President by the President or by the BOD.
  • Participates as a member of the BOD attending monthly BOD meetings as scheduled.
  • Responsible for communicating to members (condolences, congratulations, etc.), Board meeting agenda notices, other duties as they occur, including representing the Club when necessary.
  • Participates as a member of the Executive Committee, attending monthly meetings.
  • Serves as President in the absence of the President. In the event of vacancy in the office of the President, the Vice President shall succeed & assume the role of President for the balance of the unexpired term.
  • Attends JSRC Membership Business Meetings and related Board meetings.
  • Responsible for all expressions of condolence from the club.

OFFICE OF TREASURER

The Treasurer holds financial responsibility for the JSRC and all JSRC events.

FUNCTIONS

  • Participates as a member of the BOD attending monthly BOD meetings & meetings as scheduled. Participates as a member of the JSRC Executive Committee, attending monthly meetings.
  • Works closely with the BOD, Club Officers & Race Directors to develop the budget & track financial records for the organizations.
  • Advises the BOD on budgetary & financial matters.
  • Works to file taxes for the JSRC in a timely manner. Keeps records of same.
  • Ensures that JSRC /RRCA finances are managed according to generally accepted accounting principles for non profits & that funds are secured, deposited, invested, spent & reported according to the board’s policies & procedures.
  • Chairs the Finance Committee for budget planning & implementations.
  • Reports monthly to the BOD regarding the financial status of the organization.
  • Signs checks for the organization.
  • Attends JSRC Membership Business Meetings, & related Board meetings.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Work comfortably with figures & make judgments about financial matters.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of QuickBooks or other financial software is a plus.

OFFICE OF SECRETARY

The Secretary serves as the recorder of all JSRC official business, maintains the official records of the organization, and oversees all procedural aspects of the organization.

FUNCTIONS

  • Participates as a member of the BOD attending monthly BOD meetings & meetings as scheduled. Participates as a member of the JSRC Executive Committee, attending monthly meetings.
  • Assists the President in planning the agenda for all BOD & Executive Board meetings, including those held in conjunction with other professional or Club meetings.
  • Tracks organizational projects & activities to ensure that work is being conducted & board reports are made on a regular basis.
  • Assists the President in arranging for all special board meetings (special projects or activities).
  • Prepares meeting minutes or notes (whichever is more appropriate) for all BOD & Executive Committee meetings, both regular & special
  • Prepares meeting packets (agenda, past minutes, attachments, draft documents) & e-mails them to board members at least three days prior to the meeting. Sends approved minutes to the webmaster for placement on the Board-only section of the JSRC website, & handles JSRC correspondence as directed by the BOD or the President.
  • Records the minutes of all board & membership meetings, effectively manages, authenticates the JSRC records, & ensures all organization operations are conducted in accordance with the JSRC bylaws.
  • Conducts the yearly election process as specified in Bylaws, using the slate/ballot developed by the
  • Nominating Committee. Verifies the voting list for the annual holiday/election meeting, & counting ballots at the annual holiday/election meeting,
  • Assists with conference & meeting planning.

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training, and management of all volunteers for various races & events.

FUNCTIONS

  • Participates as a member of the BOD attending monthly BOD meetings & meetings as scheduled. Appoints (with BOD approval) members to the Volunteer Committee.
  • Schedules & conducts meetings of Volunteers. Maintains communications with committee members, keeps records of committee activities/meetings.
  • Develops volunteer policies & procedures for review by the Board.
  • Provides monthly reports to the JSRC BOD. Provides reports to the Newsletter Editor/ Website Webmaster for JSRC Newsletter & Website use.
  • Speaks to others about volunteer opportunities at JSRC events, Recruit, & train new volunteers
  • Schedules volunteers at various JSRC events
  • Provides/arranges for volunteer training, Provides feedback to volunteers about their performance
  • Regularly communicates with volunteers about volunteer opportunities, events, & JSRC news, and arranges for volunteer coverage to fulfill the needs of different JSRC events.
  • Maintain volunteer databases, updating volunteer information & entering service reports
  • Design & maintain computer generated systems for accessing & preserving records on each volunteer including application information, total hours of service (monthly, yearly & to-date dates)
  • Complete year-end reports & volunteer hour tallies for volunteer recognition program Update volunteer materials at year end & set up of systems for the new year Coordinate, plan, & lead trainings, as needed

MEMBERSHIP COORDINATOR

The Membership Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the club membership database and answering/resolving all membership-related questions.

FUNCTIONS

  • Participates as a member of the BOD attending monthly BOD meetings & meetings as scheduled. Appoints (with BOD approval) members to the Membership Committee.
  • Schedules & conducts meetings of the Membership Committee. Assists with committee projects. Maintains communications with committee members & keeps records of activities/meetings.
  • Develops membership policies & procedures for review by the Board.
  • Provides monthly reports to the JSRC BOD. Provides reports to the Newsletter Editor/ Website Webmaster for JSRC Newsletter & Website use.
  • Establishes & reviews annual membership goals. Provides leadership for achieving committee’s goals by directing, monitoring & evaluating activities.
  • Plans & oversees membership recruitment & retention activities.
  • Answers &/or directs member questions to appropriate resources.
  • Maintains membership email inbox & saved mail folders, answers member email or forwards to correct person for response.
  • Maintains direct contact with members through Membership Updates in Newsletter & on Website.
  • Publicizes & promotes JSRC & JSRC-related projects in related media.

LOGISTICS OFFICER

The Logistics Officer is responsible for receiving/coordinating all club correspondence, caring for club equipment/supplies, and assisting club race directors with logistical race planning if requested.

FUNCTIONS

  • Participates as a member of the BOD attending monthly BOD meetings as scheduled. Appoints (with BOD approval) members for the Logistics Committee.
  • Provides leadership for achieving committee’s goals by directing, monitoring & evaluating activities.
  • Maintains communications with committee member & keeps records of logistic needs.
  • Provides monthly reports to the JSRC BOD.
  • Provides monthly reports to the Newsletter Editor for use in the JSRC membership newsletter.
  • Plans for the development, review, and preparation of Club regarding equipment & standards of practice at races & events.
  • Assists with meeting planning & production.

WEBSITE COORDINATOR

The Website Coordinator is responsible for timely news updates on the club website as well as maintaining the club's online race calendar.

FUNCTIONS

  • Participates as a member of the BOD attending monthly BOD meetings & special meetings as scheduled. Appoints (with BOD approval) members for the Website Committee.
  • Solicits monthly & quarterly reports from JSRC Committees & Race Directors, and solicits contributions from JSRC membership.
  • Develops & edits content as Webmaster.
  • Supervises posting online of member news, and Supervises website changes & updates.
  • Makes recommendations to the BOD regarding website design & needs. Reviews website content, supervises updates & checks viability of web-links.
  • Attends JSRC Membership Business Meetings, & related Board meetings.
  • Works with Communications/Social Media Officer to present a coordinated Club presence online

SOCIAL MEDIA & COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

The Social Media Officer is responsible for strategy, development and management of all social media activity and assignment of project support staff required to create and initiate concept and ideas for future media opportunity. This officer will be entrusted with maintaining the JSRC’s official social media presence.

FUNCTIONS

  • Participates as a member of the Board of Directors (BOD) and attends monthly BOD meetings & any other meetings as scheduled
  • Appoints (with BOD approval) members to the Social Media Committee as needed
  • Manages JSRC Social Media Sites
    • Ensures fresh and updated content on all JSRC social media sites
    • Content should be of interest to JSRC and the local running community
    • Includes running articles, links to resources, race schedules and results, upload of photos and updated charitable and local club promotions
  • Assist Race Directors, as necessary, with leveraging JSRC social media
  • Monitor trends and recommend adoption of new tools as they become available
  • Create new social media sites as needed and approved by BOD
  • Promote social media within the JSRC
  • Schedules & conducts meetings of Social Media strategic committee members (can include, but not limited to, sitting board members)
  • Maintains strong communications with the BOD and Social Media committee members
  • Maintains records of Social Media activity and user feedback for discussions, action or response from the Board

NEWSLETTER EDITOR

The Newsletter Editor is responsible for creating, generating, and soliciting content for club member communications.

FUNCTIONS

  • Participates as a member of the BOD attending monthly BOD meetings & meetings as scheduled. Appoints (with BOD approval) members for the Publications Committee. Schedules & conducts Publications Committee meetings.
  • Develops & edits content as Editor-in-Chief for the JSRC membership newsletter.
  • Supervises design, layout, and posting of newsletter & publications on preferred club tools and platform.
  • Makes recommendations to the BOD regarding publication design & needs.
  • Supervises implementation of newsletter changes & updates.
  • Assists race directors with communications and outreach to promote club events.

There are TWO Member-at-Large positions. Members-at-Large represent the interests of the general membership, conduct projects, and accept duties as assigned by the President & BOD.

FUNCTIONS

  • Participates as a member of the BOD attending monthly BOD meetings as scheduled. Represents the general membership on issues of interest or concern, particularly those that arise outside of the standing committee structure.
  • Conducts projects to further the goals of the organization or to develop services for the membership. Serves as chair of any ad hoc committee formed to develop these projects.
  • Provides regular reports to the Newsletter Editor/ Website Webmaster membership newsletter & Club website use.
  • Assists with conference & meeting planning & production. Attends Annual Conferences, Club Sanctioned Events, Membership Business Meetings, & related Board meetings.

REQUIRED SKILLS
