April The Jersey Shore Running Club's biggest event of the year was completed in Asbury Park this 1st weekend of April.  Thank you for all of your support as it helps all of our charities.

Sandy Hook Lighthouse 5k - 

Recap of the Sandy Hook Lighthouse 5K Race & Walk for the Blind held on May 4th at Sandy Hook Light House followed by an after party at Off The Hook:

Race Director Joe Freeman and the Eatontown Lions Club held this great little 5K to benefit NJ Blind Citizens Association and Camp Happiness.  Seeing Eye dogs were also out for a stroll. 

Race Director's notes: Sandy Hook Lighthouse Results 2019 is in the books and Off the Hook!  Austin Higgins from Toms River and Jennifer Gunn from Aberdeen took home the top awards at the annual Sandy Hook Lighthouse 5k Run for the Blind. Lake Como 5K Romp

15th Annual Lake Como 5K Romp was a great success this past weekend.  Thank you to all of our volunteers and to the Bar A staff for a great day.

National Running Day and Global Running Day is a day that celebrates the sport of running.  It is held annually on the first Wednesday of June.  This year Global Running Day is June 5th.  Global Running Day is a worldwide celebration of running that encourages everyone to get moving.  Participants of all ages and abilities are asked to pledge and take part in some type of running activity by submitting their names through the Global Running Day website.  Submit your pledge today.

The Spring Lake 5 marks the official start to Summer for many of the shore area runners.  No more long sleeves, hats, gloves and closed rest rooms.  Now we just worry about parking and finding some shade to run in or run earlier or later to avoid the heat.

RunAPolloza
The Jersey Shore Running Clubs biggest event of the year is now sold out for both the 1/2 marathon and the 5K.  Thank for all of your support as it helps all of our charities.

 *****Parking Update:  For the Saturday RunAPalooza event, there will be free parking anywhere in Asbury Park until 2 PM, except on Ocean Avenue. ******

Bar A Kilt Run
The Bar A Kilt Run had over 400 finishers this past weekend. Congrats to the committee and thanks to all of the volunteers.

Last weeks fire shut down the boardwalk between Ocean Grove and Asbury Park.  We are pleased to let everyone know that the boardwalk connecting both towns is now back open again.  No need to detour around Wesley Lake anymore.  Enjoy running along the boards through all the coastal towns again. May Katie Arnold, the 2018 Leadville Trail 100 Run Women's Champion, will be holding a discussion, Q&A and signing her new memoir Running Home at the Barnes & Noble in Eatontown on.Tuesday, May 7 from 4 to 6pm. A portion of the net proceeds from this event will be donated to the Jersey Shore Running Club. Just download the attached voucher and present it prior to making a purchase. Vouchers will work at any Barnes & Noble as well as online.

Katie Arnold is a contributing and former managing editor at Outside Magazine, where she worked on staff for 12 years. An elite ultra runner, Katie is the 2018 women’s champion of Leadville Trail 100 Run, where she finished 11th overall in field of more than 700 runners. She is two time overall champion and course record holder at the Angel fire 100K. Katie is a sponsored athlete for GU Energy and Balega Socks.
